Final touches on 002 at the CUB Gallery, Beirut
NYAMBURA VANIA
I am a Kenyan visual artist who was raised in Nairobi and homeschooled in an international community. I later lived in Beirut for 8 years before moving across different parts of the MENA region and Africa. These diverse cultural experiences have deeply influenced my art, enriching it with a blend of global perspectives and local narratives.
Painting and Drawing:
My work centers on acrylic and oil paintings, along with charcoal and pastel drawings. My creative journey is shaped by the multicultural environments I’ve lived in, resulting in pieces that capture a fusion of emotions, landscapes, and stories.
Illustration:
I enjoy children’s book illustrations, blending both digital and physical techniques. I love bringing stories to life visually, transforming the imaginary into something real and comprehensible for children while creating deeper layers that resonate with adults. The simplicity with which children’s books convey important values is what makes them so captivating.
Photography:
In addition to my painting and illustration, I practice documentary-style photography. My photography captures the essence of street life, cultural experiences, and diverse landscapes, offering a visual narrative of everyday life and the environments I explore.
